Bill's Gamblin Hall & Saloon Summer 2011

Bill's Gamblin Hall & Saloon opened in 1979 as the Barbary Coast Hotel and Casino.  It was built by Michael Gaughan at a cost of $11.5 million. Within a few years Gaughan formed Coast Casinos Incorporated and owned several other properties within Las Vegas.
In 2005, Boyd Gaming purchased Coast Casinos and in 2007, in a rare financial move, Boyd traded the Barbary Coast to Harrah’s Entertainment in exchange for a 24 acre piece of land for the now stalled Echelon Project.

The hotel closed on February 27th 2007 for 3 days and underwent a super fast rebranding and opened as Bill’s Gamblin Hall and Saloon in honor of the company’s founder Bill Harrah.  As with all Harrah’s properties, the Casino is now owned by Caesars Entertainment.  Bill's Gamblin Hall closed Feb 4th, 2013 so it could undergo a $185 million dollar renovation.  Plans are to renovate virtually every inch of the property as including changing the name as well as adding a 65,000 square foot rooftop pool & dayclub.  Plans are to reopen in early 2014.
